SQUARE TRIO

is the dynamic amalgamation of three thriving songsmiths who collectively and individually create, compose, and perform euphonious music for the enjoyment of humanity. Because each member of the band writes music independently, and because each member also contributes to the collective song-writing process, Square Trio frequently invokes a variety of alluring and inspired musical styles, some of which include

Jazz, Rock, Dance, Pop, Lounge, Trance, HipHop, Folk, Funk, World, Fusion, and Experimental

This all-inclusive approach to the song writing process comes from a general philosophy that maintains that great music is made in every genre, therefore limiting a band to a certain style, in effect, limits a band’s creative potential. With this in mind, Square Trio aims to broaden its own musical horizons and hopes to inspire creativity and joy in the hearts of listeners through the uninhibited expression of melodious music in many forms.

BIO

After becoming friends in high school, Aaron Lager & Bo Dierker formed a musical relationship that nourished their creative capabilities and allowed them to develop their skills as songsters. Having also been long time friends with Mark Platenberg, occasionally jamming with him and exchanging early compositions, Aaron and Bo were eventually able to persuade Mark to join them in their music making endeavors. After playing just one show under the name "Star, Sun, Gazette, Enquirer", tragedy struck (VH1's "Behind The Music" style), and Mark broke his back in an unfortunate hammock-diving accident, leaving the growth of the rudimentary Trio temporarily stunted. Yet Aaron and Bo continued to write together, while Mark remained hampered under doctor's orders to stay home and wear a body caste, prompting him to childishly and ungratefully throw tater-tots at his loving and devoted mother.
Over time Mark's back healed, giving him and the band the spine they needed to pursue their musical aspirations as a Trio. Thus, Square Trio was officially born in June of 2006. After an impressive first summer, independently recording and distributing an album and drawing unexpectedly large crowds to local venues, Square Trio began to build momentum and credibility in their local scene. Much of their initial success is credited to the opportunity presented to them by friend/manager Sean O'neal, who immediately recognized the band's potential and began injecting enthusiasm into every aspect of their development.

Square Trio has been growing in solidarity and popularity ever since, and continues to get stronger as a band
